AnotationThe aim of the project, entitled "Man in the Time of Change", is to capture the behaviour and attitudes of individuals and social groups at the turning points of the politically, economically and socially turbulent "long" 19th and "short" 20th centuries. The research team will focus on three main segments of research: 1. The old elites in the whirlwind of 19th century changes: the segment will examine the role of the nobility in the process of radicalization of the civic strata of society in the late 18th and the first half of the 19th century, the course and extent of integration into the emerging civil society, etc. 2. Modern elites at the turn of the epoch. Special attention will be paid to the relationship of modern political elites across national, confessional and political orientations to the Austro-Hungarian state or its successors after the end of the First World War. 3. Man and Totalitarianism: The segment will aim to introduce some hitherto lesser-known areas of life in Czechoslovakia between 1948 and 1989. For example, the activities of foreign intelligence services on our territory and the related activities of Czechoslovak counter-intelligence, Czechoslovak-Polish anti-regime activities after the Solidarity movement in 1981, etc. All of these will be traced through the examples of individuals against the background of the so-called great history. The results of the research will be published on the pages of professional monographs and studies in databased (Scopus), peer-reviewed journals and presented at scientific conferences.
