Rectors′ Award of Ostrava Universities
The rectors of two of Ostrava′s universities, namely the University of Ostrava and the VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, are announcing an award for inter-university collaboration in the field of research and creative work for the 2025/2026 academic year. The award is presented for a specific scientific or creative output or achievement made between September 2025 and August 2026. The winning work must be a joint effort by authors from both universities. The award will be presented at the University of Ostrava′s Ceremonial Scientific Board, which will take place on 15 October 2026 in the concert hall of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ostrava′s City Campus. In addition to the award itself, the winning team will also receive a cash prize of 100,000 CZK.
The submitted entries will be assessed by a joint inter-university committee using several criteria. These include innovation, global significance, social impact and uniqueness. Other aspects examined are the contribution to cooperation between the two universities, interdisciplinarity and impact on society.
Specific creative work by an author team for the 2025/2026 academic year may be submitted using the nomination form by 15 September 2026. The application should be accompanied by the work being submitted, e.g. a publication or patent, and any other materials demonstrating fulfilment of the above criteria (certificates, confirmation of international awards or media coverage).
Entry Criteria
- A team of authors comprised of representatives from both above-listed universities.
- Output or achievement must have been produced between September 2025 and August 2026.

- Entries may be submitted until 15 September 2026 using this form.
- The completed form, including any attachments, must be sent simultaneously to and lucie.prusova@vsb.cz.
