Have you ever heard of onomastics? It is an interdisciplinary linguistic discipline that examines proper names. The course Proper Names in an Interdisciplinary Perspective is designed specifically for foreign students, especially those arriving through the Erasmus+ mobility programme. Its aim is to introduce onomastics and its key concepts in six chapters. The course is based primarily on Czech theories of proper names and is illustrated with examples from Czech onymy. It presents onomastics as an inspiring interdisciplinary field and introduces students to the world of Czech proper names. The course is recommended not only for students of linguistics, but also for students of history, geography, the social sciences, and the humanities. Moodle-based distance-learning materials consisting of six lessons will be created for the course.
