Scientists from the University of Ostrava have demonstrated that a slight change in the relative arrangement of two ultrathin layers of material can significantly affect its interaction with light. Their discovery, published in the prestigious journal Nano Letters, paves the way for the development of more efficient solar cells, photodetectors, and quantum devices.
Calculations and simulations are now underway to ensure that efforts toward ecological behaviour, with regard to future generations, will no longer go hand in hand with higher financial costs.
