AnotationThe research The Role and Experience of Case Managers in Coordinating Support Services for Clients Undergoing Ketamine-Assisted Therapy focuses on understanding the professional roles, strategies, and experiences of two case managers working within the project Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy at the Intersection of Health and Social Care as a Response to the Crisis in Mental Health, Addictions, and Social Disadvantage, implemented in collaboration between Psyon Clinic s.r.o. and Podané ruce Clinic s.r.o.. The project represents a unique initiative in the Czech context, integrating ketamine-assisted therapy for the treatment of mental health issues and addictions with the method of case management. It offers an exceptional opportunity to explore how care for clients is coordinated across the boundaries of the healthcare, psychotherapeutic, and social service systems. The study is designed as a multiple case study, employing in-depth semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and, where appropriate, field observation of the case managers´ work. It also reflects the growing need for integrated care and the connection of therapeutic interventions with targeted social support for clients experiencing social disadvantage. The aim is to understand how the case managers themselves perceive and construct their professional role, what strategies they use to ensure continuity of care, and what challenges they encounter when working with clients undergoing ketamine-assisted therapy. The research will provide the first empirical data on the involvement of social workers in psychedelic-assisted therapies in the Czech Republic. Its findings may contribute to the development of methodological guidelines and professional standards for case management within innovative therapeutic models, while also supporting the advancement of interdisciplinary collaboration between health and social services in the fields of mental health and addiction treatment.
