AnotationThe project is aimed at creating a professional collective monograph that will offer a critical reflection on the current discourse in social policy and social work. The book focuses on the analysis of the mechanisms by which social policy and social work can reproduce inequalities, oppression and marginalization, focuses on deconstructing dominant discourses and at the same time presents alternatives to the dominant neoliberal rationality. It is based on the idea that social work is always a political practice, not a neutral performance of assistance, but a space where decisions are made about social justice, power and empowerment. The project will include desk research focused on the analysis of professional literature, documents and research studies from the Czech Republic and abroad. On its basis, four author chapters by the research team members will be created, dedicated to key topics such as benefit conditionality, activation policy, the housing crisis or gender inequality, etc. Other chapters will be provided by external authors, including foreign experts, whose contributions will be translated into Czech. International cooperation will enable the Czech context to be linked to global trends and bring pluralistic and theoretically anchored perspectives on social policy and social work. The aim of the project is to create a publication that: (1) deconstructs dominant concepts and ideological frameworks of contemporary social policy; (2) critically assesses the impacts of neoliberal reforms on the welfare state, equality and social work practice; (3) presents emancipatory and politicized approaches to social change; (4) supports Czech-language critical literature; (5) strengthens international cooperation. The project will contribute to the development of critical thinking, international cooperation and to enriching the Czech academic debate with new theoretical and empirical knowledge.
