AnotationObstructive sleep apnea syndrome represents a significant sleep disorder, with the obstructive phenotype being the most prevalent in the pediatric population. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) affects approximately 1 to 10% of children, with prevalence rising markedly among those with overweight or obesity. In adolescents, OSA is associated with cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurocognitive consequences, yet it remains frequently underdiagnosed in clinical practice. The aim of this project is to determine the prevalence of OSA in adolescents using cardiorespiratory polygraphy, identify risk factors associated with this condition, and generate evidence to support the development of a screening tool - Sleep Apnea Risk Assessment for Adolescents (SARA-A). The project has the potential to substantially enhance early detection of sleep-disordered breathing within pediatric care.
