| Anotation | The project "Czech Lands within the Realm of Imperial Politics in the 10th-13th Centuries" builds upon the doctoral research of the applicant, which focuses on the position of the Czech lands within the network of imperial court assemblies and on the forms of their representation within the political structures of the Holy Roman Empire. The aim of the project is to analyse the role of the Czech lands in the sphere of imperial politics during the 10th-13th centuries, with particular attention to the negotiation strategies, forms of communication, and modes of representation employed by Czech rulers, nobility, and ecclesiastical elites in their interactions with imperial institutions and rulers. The project forms part of a broader scholarly interest in the political, diplomatic, and cultural interactions among Central European regions during the early and high Middle Ages. It seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms through which the Czech lands participated in imperial politics and contributed to shaping the political landscape of medieval Central Europe. Methodologically, the project draws on approaches of historical prosopography, analysis of primary written sources of both Czech and imperial provenance, and comparative methods. The methodological framework corresponds to current trends in European and Czech medieval studies. The project is conducted by a doctoral student (Mgr. Eva Zapletalová) under the supervision of her supervisor (Prof. Mgr. Robert Antonín, Ph.D.). Partial results will be presented in the form of a study and through the applicant´s active participation in a workshop or conference. |
