AnotationThe proposed one-year project ?Sociolinguistic Analysis of the Silesian Dialect in Racibórz and Its Surroundings? aims, through linguistic analysis, to provide a unique perspective on the Racibórz region and the speech of its inhabitants. The author will focus on local variants of the Silesian dialect found in texts originating from this area. The social structure of Racibórz underwent significant changes after the Second World War ? the autochthonous population emigrated, and their place was taken by newcomers from other parts of Poland, which led to the gradual decline of local linguistic forms. These social transformations did not create favourable conditions for dialectological research; however, the former inhabitants left valuable traces of their language in written texts. The author plans to analyse materials collected from the town of Racibórz and the surrounding villages (Tworków, Kornowac, Nędza, Rudnik, Lubomia). The main objective of the project is to collect and examine all local texts containing elements of the Silesian dialect. The collected materials will then be classified according to their type, function, and period of origin, and subsequently subjected to qualitative and dialectological analysis to identify common linguistic features. The expected outputs of the project include scholarly studies and articles in JSc/JOST-type journals, as well as presentations at international student and professional conferences. The project will also generate outputs of a popularisation character. The research team will consist of one academic supervisor and one doctoral student.
