| Anotation | The project proposal involves innovative research focused on the biography and the German-language literary and journalistic work of Friedrich Uhl (1825?1906), a forgotten figure who stood between Teschen Silesia and Vienna. The aim of the project is to present the key events of the author?s life and his extensive literary output, which reflects the major European literary and artistic movements from Romanticism through the pre-March period to Poetic Realism. Special attention will be devoted to his journalistic activity, its influence on the formation of journalistic ethics, and to the author?s literary-critical insights within the cultural atmosphere of the Danube Monarchy. During this time, the Viennese newspapers under Friedrich Uhl?s leadership gained significant cultural prestige, to which his feuilleton writing contributed greatly. Uhl also supported emerging writers. Research into the literary and socio-cultural impact of the forgotten author Friedrich Uhl offers a new perspective on his artistic and socio-political connections. These personal and professional relationships mirror the social and cultural panorama of the period under study. The central focus of the research will be on Uhl?s literary position within Teschen Silesia, the resonance of this multicultural region in his works, and the way he introduced it to the (not only) Viennese readership. The research will concentrate on the examination of Uhl?s partially handwritten literary and journalistic estate and its interpretation within the framework of hermeneutic methodology. |
