AnotationaThe proposed project will focus on the issue of autofiction primarily in Czech literature. Methodologically, it will focus on a genological and thematic approach; the aim is to analyze, on the basis of a selected corpus of prose works, the relationship between the given genre category and the topics treated, which significantly reflect the current world, or rather become a strong medium balancing on the fine line between factual, documentary expression and aesthetic, artistic form, creating a unique fictional world. The analyses and interpretations will focus primarily on the work of younger generation authors, in which autofiction becomes a means of debating contemporary social issues (ranging from individual and intimate themes of identity or personal trauma to engaged statements on societal or geopolitical problems). Here, part of the research team will focus on a comparative approach to the latest autofictional production, using examples from the Czech, Spanish, French, and Polish cultural spheres. The subject of diachronic interest will also be the works of older authors (across the 20th century, with a focus on regional literature from Silesia), in which - although the term autofiction did not exist at the time of their literary activity - we find autofictional narrative strategies, assuming that research into developmental perspectives has the potential to help grasp the term theoretically and distinguish it from related genre categories.
