| Anotation | Understanding the molecular aspects of Leishmania-sand fly interactions is highly important for the effective control and prevention of the disease. In the proposed study, we will assess, for the first time, the role of RNA viruses and RNAi mechanisms in regulating Leishmania development in sand flies and their subsequent transmission to the vertebrate hosts. In addition, and, again, for the first time, we will use high-throughput sequencing to link the observed phenotypes to the differences in the insect immune responses. |
