AnotationSarcopenic obesity is a combination of sarcopenia and obesity, leading to the simultaneous loss of muscle mass and an increase in body fat. Although this condition does not cause changes in body weight or BMI, it significantly impacts body composition and contributes to the development of various pathological conditions, including cardiovascular complications, insulin resistance, impaired cognitive function, and decreased physical performance. Currently, there is no specific laboratory marker that effectively reflects the state of sarcopenic obesity in patients. The aim of this project is to conduct miRNA screening in patients with sarcopenic obesity and identify specific miRNA profiles associated with body composition, muscle mass, and obesity. Identifying these biomarkers would enable the development of new diagnostic tools to help physicians better assess the condition of patients, particularly in more severe clinical cases. Modern analytical methods and the integration of these miRNAs into routine laboratory practice could improve both diagnostics and prognosis, contributing to better management and monitoring of patients with this complex disorder.
