AnotationThe proposed project deals with a voting behaviour in the Georgian region of Javakheti, which is compactly settled by ethnic Armenians, who constitute a clear majority there. Regions compactly settled by ethnic minorities have been often regarded as problematic, because voting behaviour of Georgia?s ethnic minorities has been traditionally different than voting behaviour of ethnic Georgians. In fact, ethnic minorities have traditionally supported ruling political parties, and it was, above all, in the minority-settled areas, where elections have been flawed by interventions of the local political elite ? by restricting of the electoral campaign, as well as by manipulations during voting or counting of the ballots cast. The goal of the proposed project is, on the example of Javakheti, verify the assumption that voting behaviour of Georgia?s ethnic minorities shows, at the analytical level lower than the level of the municipality (district), significant degree of electoral volatility, and that voting behaviour of Georgia?s ethnic minorities cannot be, above all after 2012, reduced to the general claim, often present in the literature, that they are loyal to the ruling party.
