| Anotation | Knowledge of paranasal sinus development is of fundamental importance for clinical practice in otorhinolaryngology. Past studies were based on meassurements performed on cadavers' skulls. With the development and significant improvement in the availability of imaging methods, it is now possible to assess the anatomy of the paranasal sinuses far more closely and to measure their volume. Despite the generally excellent availability of source data with an increasing number of CT head indications in all age groups, similar studies have been relatively limited. The aim of this study is to assess the presence and development of paranasal sinuses in Czech patients from birth using HRCT (High Resolution Computed Tomography). This knowledge can be used in the diagnosis and treatment of inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and their complications. |
