AnotationLandslides are dangerous geomorphic processes. Dendrogeomorphic methods enable detailed reconstruction of the past spatio-temporal aspects of landslides. Moreover, dendrogeomorphic data are valuable sources of information for the analysis of triggering factors of their origin. Unfortunately, some aspects of dendrogeomorphic research have not been sufficiently solved yet. The main aim of this project is to increase efficiency of dendrogeomorphic approaches used in landslide research via solving three key questions: (i) suggestion and critical evaluation of optimal spatial patterns of sampled trees (ii) identification of optimal age/size of trees when they are most sensitive to landslides (iii) critical review of tree growth responses to landslides. The project will be solved in selected localities in the SW Taurus (Turkey), where up to 500-year-long chronologies of landslide movements will be possible to be created. The testing of suggested approaches will be realized in some localities in the Outer Western Carpathians with well-known spatio-temporal development of landslide activity.
