The course explores the transformation of visual culture and contemporary artistic practice through the interconnected perspectives of artistic research, visual studies, contemporary painting, digital media and interdisciplinary art. It investigates how visual art operates as a critical research methodology capable of interpreting and transforming social, political, technological and ecological reality.
Students examine the transformation of images, public space and visual communication in relation to post-industrial society, digital culture, artificial intelligence and expanded artistic practices. The course combines theoretical reflection with experimental artistic production and encourages students to develop research-based projects responding to current cultural and social issues.
Particular emphasis is placed on critical thinking, visual literacy, interdisciplinary collaboration, field research and the integration of theoretical knowledge into artistic practice.
The course consists of lectures, seminars, workshops, field research, professional excursions and supervised studio work leading to the realization of an individual or collaborative artistic project.
