Courses

The course pursues two main objectives: I) To provide students with a fundamental insight into lexicology as an academic discipline. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to define the core concepts of the discipline; list types of dictionaries and apply them in translation and text-based tasks; describe the model of the word as a linguistic sign as well as other theoretical models; categorize types of linguistic meaning according to various criteria and list fundamental groups of words based on semantic relationships; identify word-formation processes in the German language and determine the specific word-formation method used for selected words in a text; and characterize the German vocabulary, including its classification from international, temporal, regional, and social perspectives. II) To provide students with a fundamental insight into stylistics as an academic discipline. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to define the core concepts of the discipline; characterize microstylistics and macrostylistics along with their categories; list the primary procedures and methods of text analysis; and describe fundamental communicative domains (functional styles) including their corresponding text types (genres). Furthermore, students will be able to analyze texts from various communicative domains, infer the author's intent and the requirements placed on text recipients, interpret the function and meaning of individual stylistic devices, and compose a coherent text appropriate to a given topic and style. Předmět sleduje dva základní cíle: I) zprostředkovat studentům základní vhled do problematiky lexikologie jako vědecké disciplíny. Po absolvování předmětu studenti dokáží definovat základní pojmy dané disciplíny, vyjmenovat typy slovníků a aplikovat je při překladech a práci s textem, popsat model slova jako jazykového znaku a další modely, rozdělit typy jazykového významu podle různých kritérií a jmenovat základní skupiny slov na základě významových vztahů, vyjmenovat prostředky slovotvorby v německém jazyce a určit v textu u vybraných slov prostředek slovotvorby, charakterizovat německou slovní zásobu včetně jejího členění z perspektivy internacionální, časové, regionální a sociální. II) zprostředkovat studentům základní vhled do problematiky stylistiky jako vědecké disciplíny. Po absolvování předmětu studenti dokáží definovat základní pojmy dané disciplíny, charakterizovat mikrostylistiku a makrostylistiku a jejich kategorie, vyjmenovat hlavní postupy a metody textové analýzy a popsat základní komunikační oblasti (funkční styly) včetně příslušných textových druhů. Studenti budou dále schopni analyzovat texty z jednotlivých komunikačních oblastí, odvodit intenci autora a požadavky na recipienty textu, interpretovat funkci a význam jednotlivých stylistických prostředků, napsat koherentní text odpovídající zadanému tématu a stylu.
