Operation of the University of Ostrava Has Been Governed by the University Traffic Light

From 8th September 2020, the operation of the UO has been governed by the University Traffic Light of which colour is currently yellow, derived from the epidemiological situation in the Ostrava-City District. The individual faculties and workplaces may declare higher alert level or other regulations beyond the recommendations for the current level of risk. Follow the faculty websites and the colour signs of the UO buildings.

From 10th September 2020, it is, beyond the University Traffic Light, obligatory to wear the face mask in all inside areas according to the Extraordinary and Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health. To have a good overview of the current obligations we recommend to thoroughly read the Ministry’s measures.

From September 23, 2020, based on the Extraordinary Measure of the Regional Public Health Authority of the Moravian Silesian Region, the personal presence of the university students at the classes is banned. This ban does not apply to the following:

  • individual visits of libraries and study rooms,
  • individual consultations,
  • examinations in the presence of up to 10 people (also applies to Final State Examinations),
  • laboratory, experimental or artistic work in the presence of up to 15 people,
  • clinical and practical training.

This measure is valid until October 31, 2020.

Furthermore, according to the Rector’s provision no. 111/2020, the UO students and employees are obliged to report the positive test for COVID-19 and quarantine. At the same time, people with any symptoms of viral infectious disease (shortness of breath, fever, dry cough, sudden loss of taste and smell) are prohibited from entering the UO buildings.

Are you a student of any of UO faculty?
International students coming for a study stay (mobility) to the UO as well as international degree students in Czech study programmes received an informative email earlier and all the measures and instructions in this email are still valid: a positive COVID19 test result or quarantine committment should be immediately reported via the emergency line of the Centre for International Cooperation +420 739 594 408 (available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

In case of positive COVID19 test result or quarantine committment you have the obligation to immediately report your personal data in this wording to the University of Ostrava to the e-mail address .

At the University of Ostrava, the Crisis Management Group has been established to deal with the current needs and measures in the connection with the development of the epidemiological situation.


University Traffic Light
Zero or negligible risk

0

Students:

  • The contact teaching is limited to 100 people at the same time in one room, the teaching for more than 100 people will be only carried out online/remotely.
  • There is an obligation to report a positive test for COVID-19 and quarantine via the application at the OU Portal.
  • It is recommended to wear the face mask or other nose and mouth protection and to disinfect hands at the entrances to the UO buildings and even at the classroom entrances.
  • In case of showing any symptoms of COVID-19, the students do not enter the UO buildings.
  • International students from COVID-19 high-risk countries have to be tested for COVID-19.
  • If the student proves with medical confirmation that he/she belongs to the risk group, he does not have to attend contact classes after the agreement with the teacher.

Employees:

  • There is an obligation to report a positive test for COVID-19 and quarantine via the application at the OU Portal.
  • It is recommended to wear the face mask or other nose and mouth protection and to disinfect hands at all entrances.
  • Employees coming from COVID-19 high-risk countries have to be tested for COVID-19.
  • The foreign business trips follow the regulations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
  • In case of showing any symptoms of COVID-19, the employee asks his/her supervisor for home office.

Operation of the UO buildings:

  • Standard
  • No entry to all people with symptoms of viral infectious disease (shortness of breath, fever, dry cough, sudden loss of taste and smell).

Operation of Halls of Residence:

  • No restrictions

Operation of Library:

  • No restrictions

Generally:

  • Mass events are restricted according to the valid legislation.
Occurrence of infection without community transmission

Students:

  • There is an obligation to report a positive test for COVID-19 and quarantine via the application at the OU Portal.
  • The contact teaching is limited to 100 people at the same time in one room, the teaching for more than 100 people is only carried out online/remotely. It is recommended to keep the 2-metre distance.
  • In the libraries, the presence of a maximum of 100 people is recommended.
  • It is recommended to wear the face mask or other nose and mouth protection and to disinfect hands at all entrances.
  • In case of showing any symptoms of COVID-19, the students do not enter the UO buildings.
  • International students from COVID-19 high-risk countries have to be tested for COVID-19.
  • If the student proves with medical confirmation that he/she belongs to the risk group, he does not have to attend contact classes after the agreement with the teacher.

  • In case of showing any symptoms of COVID-19, the employee asks his/her supervisor for home office.

Operation of the UO buildings:

Incipient community transmission

Generally:

  • The public is forbidden to enter the UO buildings.
  • In the common areas of the UO buildings it is obligatory to wear the face mask.

Students:

  • There is an obligation to report a positive test for COVID-19 and quarantine via the application at the OU Portal.
  • It is obligatory to wear the face mask or other nose and mouth protection in the common areas of the UO buildings and to disinfect hands at all entrances.
  • The online/remote teaching is recommended even for classes with less than 100 people where the minimal 2-metre distance cannot be ensured.
  • In case of showing any symptoms of COVID-19, the students do not enter the UO buildings.
  • Not recommended to carry out academic ceremonies.

Employees:

  • There is an obligation to report a positive test for COVID-19 and quarantine via the application at the OU Portal.
  • It is obligatory to wear the face mask or other nose and mouth protection in all common areas of the UO buildings and during the contact classes and to disinfect hands at all entrances.
  • Recommended to supervisors to allow their employees to work from home, i.e. home office.
  • In research laboratories, the number of people is limited according to the valid legislation.
  • It is recommended to carry out the domestic business trips to the areas with higher risk of COVID-19 infection only to the strictly necessary extent. Foreign business trips follow the current situation in the country of destination.
  • Employees coming from COVID-19 high-risk countries have to be tested for COVID-19.
  • In case of showing any symptoms of COVID-19, the employee asks his/her supervisor for home office.
  • It is forbidden to organize events and meetings in enclosed spaces for more than 100 people, in outside areas for more than 200 people or according to the valid legislation.

Operation of the UO buildings:

  • The public is forbidden to enter the UO buildings.
  • It is obligatory to wear the face masks in the common areas of the UO buildings.

Operation of Halls of Residence:

  • It is obligatory to wear the face mask in the common areas of the Halls of Residence.

Operation of Library:

  • The libraries are closed; it is possible to borrow books after individual agreement.

The operation of the UO buildings, Halls of Residence and Library is also governed by the regulations of the Ministry of Heath of the Czech Republic and the Regional Public Health Authority of the Moravian Silesian Region.

Growing or persisting community transmission

Generally:

  • All UO buildings are closed for students and public.

Students:

  • There is an obligation to report a positive test for COVID-19 and quarantine via the application at the OU Portal.
  • The classes only take place online/remotely.
  • Field teaching and practical training do not take place.
  • Examinations and Final State Examinations only take place online/remotely.
  • In research laboratories, the number of people is limited according to the valid legislation.
  • Admission of the international students is suspended except for exceptional cases.

Employees:

  • There is an obligation to report a positive test for COVID-19 and quarantine via the application at the OU Portal.
  • The basic operation of workplaces is ensured.
  • Recommended to supervisors to allow their employees to work from home, i.e. home office.
  • Employees are forbidden to go on domestic and foreign business trips. Arrival of foreign employees is forbidden.
  • The events and meetings for more than 20 people can only take place online.
  • Admission of the international employees is suspended except for exceptional cases.

Operation of the UO buildings:

  • All UO buildings are closed for students and public.
  • It is obligatory to wear the face mask in the UO buildings.

Operation of Halls of Residence:

  • The Halls of Residence operation is restricted, in case of infection occurrence, they get closed.

Operation of Library:

  • The libraries are closed; it is possible to borrow books after individual agreement.

The operation of the UO buildings, Halls of Residence and Library is also governed by the regulations of the Ministry of Heath of the Czech Republic and the Regional Public Health Authority of the Moravian Silesian Region.
