Annotation:
Sociological documentary film describes social conditions, problems and phenomena. The perception and artistic treatment of the different themes is different and depends on the artistic expression of the director. Films differ both in the degree of generalization, the timeliness (in) timeliness, or, in particular, the choice of topics. This seminar will present a selection of Czech and international documentary films dealing with various social issues and phenomena. Their differences also arise from the specific treatment of the subject under consideration: from long-term observation to fictional narration. This seminar will provide students with a varied overview of contemporary documentary filmmaking in the Czech Republic and other countries, as well as current social issues.
Films are mostly in English (partly with subtitles)
