AnotationThe project focuses on the topic of visible difference within the context of social work and health and social care. It is based on the concept of lived experience, reflecting the daily realities, reactions of the social environment, and barriers affecting the quality of life and the level of social inclusion of persons with visible differences. Thematically, the project builds upon the principal investigator's dissertation and addresses the lack of research on this issue in the Czech context. The research examines the issue of visible difference from three mutually complementary perspectives: from the perspective of persons with visible differences themselves, from the perspective of professionals in helping professions, and from the perspective of parents of children with visible differences. The aim of the project is not only to map the attitudes of professionals (social workers, social service workers, and healthcare professionals) but also to understand the specific needs and coping strategies of persons with visible differences, as well as their parents, who often face stigma by association. The project intends to conduct research using a qualitative research strategy. The expected output is the formulation of specific recommendations for social work and health and social care practice. These recommendations have the potential to serve as a basis for increasing the sensitivity of professionals in helping professions and for developing an inclusive and respectful approach that considers the needs of the entire family system.
