| Anotation | The project focuses on the adaptation of children placed in foster care due to neglect, explored in the context of the construction of the best interests of the child. Children removed from their biological families go through a challenging process of adjusting to new relationships, environments, and rules, which significantly affects their sense of safety and stability. Adaptation therefore represents a key phase in which the best interests of the child are revealed and enacted within social work practice. This process involves various actors child protection authorities, foster care support organizations, and social activation services for families. The project expands existing research by including the perspective of children aged 15 and older who are or have been placed in foster care. The aim is to explore how social workers and children labelled as neglected construct the best interests of the child during the process of adaptation to foster care. The research is based on a qualitative design, using in-depth semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis. |
