| Anotation | Energy poverty has in recent years become a subject of intensive examination both in the Czech Republic and internationally, with research highlighting its growing prevalence and structural nature. It is a multidimensional problem that affects a broad spectrum of households across social and age groups. Analyses of the occurrence and consequences of energy poverty identify single-parent households (particularly single mothers), older adults, and low-income households as the most vulnerable groups (Klusáček et al., 2022; Mohan, 2022; Piekut, 2024). International studies point to the potential of social work as an effective tool for supporting vulnerable groups threatened by energy poverty. Despite this, the Czech Republic still lacks research that would comprehensively explain the role of social work in addressing the impacts of energy poverty. The presented research project aims to fill this gap. This project focuses on energy poverty from the perspective of social work, with particular emphasis on the situation of single mothers. In the Czech context, energy poverty is increasingly emerging as a serious social risk that disproportionately affects this target group. It is therefore essential to explore possibilities for targeted support through social services and social work. The project aims to deepen understanding of the opportunities and limitations of social work in supporting single mothers at risk of energy poverty and to identify key factors influencing the effectiveness of provided interventions. The expected results will contribute to a deeper understanding of the role of social workers in the prevention and mitigation of energy poverty?both at the individual and systemic levels?and may serve as a basis for practice development and the creation of relevant social policies. |
