The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure for the position of:

  • Excellent worker for project LERCO and at the same time Professor or Associate Professor in environmental epidemiology

Type of Systematized Position:

  • Professor / Associate Professor

Expected Start of Employment:

  • February 2026 or by agreeement

Expected Working Load:

  • 50 % on a fixed-term basis for the duration of the LERCO project (maximum until December 31, 2027).

Qualifications and Other Requirements:

  • Associate Professor/Professor in the field of Environmental Protection/Environmental Epidemiology;
  • At least 15 years of research experience;
  • Publication experience;
  • Ability to establish international cooperation;
  • Positive, independent, and creative approach to work;
  • Ability to efficiently solve assigned tasks;
  • EU research level: R3 – R4;
  • Experience in a university environment an advantage.

Language in Which the Selection Procedure Will Be Conducted:

  • Czech.

Salary Conditions:

  • In accordance with the Internal Salary Regulations of the University of Ostrava.

Job Description:

  • Participation in the LERCO CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000003 project within research program VP 8 – Environmental Epidemiology as a tool for improving quality of life in an industrial environment.
  • Environmental epidemiology – environmental risk factors
  • Issues related to antibiotic resistance
  • Preparation of research projects; Publication activities; International cooperation.

Professor or Associate professor provides teaching in bachelor, master´s and doctoral study programs (including leading and opposition final thesis) also participates on develompent of those study programs. He is a trainer in doctoral study programs. He is involved into creative activities (especially by solutions of difficult and development tasks with main importance for his field. He is also involved in publishing activities in reviewed magazines, eventually another way of publication according to requirements of his field and also with harmony of requirements standard creative activity on OU, security, management – coordinating projects basic/applied research. Professor / Associate professor provides financing resource, participate on scientific conferences and professional meetings, presents result in creative activity. Professor / Associate professor also participates on third role university mainly by popularization, creative activity, also participates on administration and management connected with performed activity and on autonomy of university.

The first round of the selection procedure will take place without the personal presence of the applicants, by assessing the materials provided by the applicants by the selection committee. Only selected applicants will be invited to the second round of the selection procedure.
