Job description

Associate professor:

  • Provides teaching in bachelor′s, master′s, and doctoral degree programs (including supervising and reviewing theses) and helps develop these programs further.
  • Serves as an advisor in doctoral degree programs.
  • Actively engages in creative work, particularly through independent research and development projects, publishing in academic periodicals, and participating in conferences and other professional meetings; secures and leads/coordinates basic and applied research projects (including securing funding).
  • He or she contributes to the university′s third mission, particularly by promoting creative work, participating in the administration and management related to his or her activities, and participating in the university′s self-governance.

Assistant professor:

  • Participates in teaching in bachelor′s and master′s degree programs (including supervising and reviewing theses) and participating in their further development.
  • Upon approval by the faculty′s scientific council, may also participate in teaching in doctoral degree programs.
  • Actively participates in creative work, particularly through independent research and development projects, publishing in academic periodicals, and participating in conferences and other professional meetings.
  • The job description also includes science popularization, administrative duties, and participation in the university′s self-governance.

Qualification requirements – required

Associate professor:

  • Appointment as an associate professor in the field of natural sciences (chemistry, biochemistry) or medicine.
  • Scientific research and publication activities in the relevant or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Czech at the C2 level.
  • Proficiency in English at the B2 level.

Assistant professor:

  • A university degree in the field of natural sciences (chemistry, biochemistry) or medicine.
  • A doctorate (Ph.D., CSc., DrSc., Dr.) in the relevant field or a related field.
  • Scientific research and publication activity in the relevant or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Czech at the C2 level.
  • Proficiency in English at the B2 level.

Qualification requirements – preferred

Assistant professor:

  • Pedagogical experience in the relevant field is preferred.

Research level

  • Associate professor: R3 (established research staff) / R4 (leading research staff).
  • Assistant professor: R2 (post-doctoral research staff).

The expected form of employment

  • 20%

The expected start date

  • October 2026 or as agreed

  • Salary is based on the position classification set by the university′s internal salary regulations and also depends on the candidate′s experience and involvement in research grant activities.

Information about the selection procedure

The Dean of the OU Faculty of Medicine reserves the right to invite only selected applicants for a personal interview and also the right not to select any applicants. The selection process may be canceled or reopened.
