AnotationThe aim of the one-year project is to analyse and describe the linguistic means of expressing emotionality in films intended for people with visual impairments, using the example of the well-known German comedy Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) by Wolfgang Becker. The research team consists of one academic (proposer) and one PhD student (co-investigator). The team will focus on analysing, describing and comparing the linguistic means of expressing emotionality in the German language, both in the script of this film by Bernd Lichtenberg (2003), in the book adaptation in the so-called "simple language" by Eva Dix (2015) and also in the film adaptation for the visually impaired by Daniel Brühl, Katrin Sass et al. (2003) containing audio descriptions. The motivation for submitting this thematically unique project on a hitherto under-researched topic is to support the independent scientific research of a PhD student with a visual impairment under the guidance of an academic. The outcome of this one-year project will be the development of a language material for self-analysis, a pilot study in a peer-reviewed journal, and an active participation of the members of the research team in a scientific conference.
