AnotationThe research project planned for three years is based on the long-term complex interest of the research team in the development of medieval ethics and devotion. It targets the transformation of conceptual understanding of medieval moralities in reform homiletics and confession/penance practice in Bohemian Lands in period between the 14th and 16th centuries with special focus on ars moriendi. The results of the analysis of Bohemian written as well as visual sources will be compared and integrated into the general development and shaping of medieval moralities during the Middle Ages. The core of the analysed written sources will consist of the Bohemian homiletics, mainly postils and moral tracts dealing with the seven deadly sins, virtues and vices, salvation and the so called ?good death? in general. The outputs of the project will be two monograph publications as well as studies in peer review journals.
