AnotationThe proposed project is the first research studying species richness and host specificity of the bryophagous insect on the community level in a mountain area of the Central Europe. The principal aim of the project is to analyze whether the factors, knownto determine the diversity of herbivorous communities on vascular plants play also a significant role within insect bryophagous communities. At three localities, situated in the Hrubý Jeseník Mts., the bryophagous insects and their predators will be collected from moss cushions for tree years by quadrat method. The effect of the following factors on their diversity will be tested: stratification; habitat type; life forms and life history strategies of mosses, local host abundance; predation risk andhost specificity. The host specificity will be verified by feeding tests in the laboratory and by dissection of the digestive apparatus and subsequent determination of the cell so of mosses present there.
