| Annotation: | The aim of the course is to introduce students to Russian singing poets, so as to gain a more comprehensive picture of Russian culture. Attention is devoted to the origin of the song genre from times immemorial and its transformation in the so-called author's song in the second half of the 20th century. The founder of this synthetic artistic genre is most often considered Bulat Okudzhava or Vladimir Vysotsky. Few people, however, know that Alexander Vertinsky (1889-1957), a remarkable and versatile artist, was the real forerunner of the bards. Other sources state that the first singing poet who emerged in the post-war years was Mikhail Ancharov. Notable attention is paid to another representative of the genre of the author's song - Alexander Galich (formerly Ginzburg), the author of emigrant-themed and politically critical songs. The present state of the author's song and possible followers of this literary and musical genre will also be discussed. In seminars specific texts authored by the above-mentioned singing poets, representing the milestones of the given artistic genre (especially the phenomenon of OVG: triumvirate of Okudzhava-Vysotsky-Galich), will be analyzed. |
