Annotation:The aim of the seminar is to provide students with an insight into this modern discipline and enable them to view language from a perspective which goes beyond traditional linguistic disciplines, focusing on the pragmatic approach to a range of linguistic phenomena. Students are thus acquainted with key concepts, terms and theories which offer a view of the relation between linguistic forms and the functions they perform in language use. This functional approach takes into account the pragmatic factors which influence the choice of linguistic resources and communication strategies used by speakers, showing how these choices contribute to the interpretation of meanings and intentions in communication.
