Annotation:Watershed is considered to be the basic core for planning and management of water resources. Since a watershed is bound by natural drainage pattern, optimum utilization of natural resources including water must cater to the needs of the complex interactions between the various parts of the watershed. The course contents cover the basic water management conceptions, the main overview to approaches of river system management in Czech Republic or over the World, objectives and issues of the management and restoration of watercourses not only from the geomorphological point of view. The students are introduced to the utilization of geomorphological data in the revitalization of watercourses or in technical modelling of river basins. A substantial part of the seminars deals with the analysis of case studies both from the Czech Republic and the whole World. The students should thus acquire an overview of problematic approaches in water management as well as of modern perspective solutions.
