AnotationThe SGS project consists of three sub-projects connecting General Biology students. The aim of the microbiological part will be to monitor the presence of genes resistant to antibiotics and resistant bacteria isolated from the nitrification and sedimentation tank of the wastewater treatment plant and from the dam water; characterization of resistant cultivable bacterial strains will be performed; quantification of antibiotic resistance genes in wastewater and monitoring of multidrug resistance. The bioinformatics part will focus on the occurrence, structure and function of non-canonical forms of nucleic acids across the genomes of living organisms and viruses; evaluation of bioinformatics analysis of proteins that bind to selected non-canonical structures; prediction of new binding proteins and selection of non-canonical structures with high therapeutic or biotechnological potential. The third part will focus on the study of the regulatory region of genes related to Papaver somniferum drought resistance; will monitor the change in the abundance of proteins and genes important for understanding plant defense mechanisms against drought; for these genes, sequences capable of forming nucleic acid secondary structures will be characterized and genes involved in opioid synthesis will be detected.
