AnotationThe goal of this project is a retrospective analysis of the use of Neutral pressure wound therapy (NPWT) in a selected health facility, identification of most common indications and possible complications and creation of standard procedure for NPWT usage in wound care based on results of analyses. Preparation and pilot validation of standardised educational process (program for healthcare staff for the effective use NPWT will be provided. Since its introduction in clinical practice in the early 1990's negative pressure wounds therapy (NPWT) has become widely used in the management of complex wounds in both inpatient and outpatient care. NPWT has been described as an effective treatment for wounds of many different etiologies and suggested as a gold standard for treatment of wounds such as open abdominal wounds, dehisced sternal wounds following cardiac surgery, and as a valuable agent in complex non-healing wounds, but can also be used for secondary prevention in surgical wounds. Vacuum therapy provides sophisticated, sterile, closed dressing with wet wound properties. In the case of vacuum therapy there are several variables ? level of negative pressure, type of filling (gauze or foam), use of contact layer, method of administration (continuous, intermittent), possibility of installation - all this is indicated depending on the needs of the patient, type of wound, the possibilities of the medical facility and the experience of the physician.
