AnotationThis study aims to assess the influence of the chronotype of nurses working in shift-based operations on their quality of life. The relationship between chronotype and the quality of life of nurses within a shift system is complex and significantly affects their overall well-being. Chronotype, defined as an individual's natural tendency to exhibit activity during certain times of the day, interacts with the demands of shift work and influences critical aspects such as sleep quality, mental health, and job satisfaction. This interaction is particularly significant for registered nurses who often work in continuous operations. Research shows that nurses with a nocturnal chronotype typically experience a lower quality of life than those with a morning preference. This difference is mainly due to a mismatch between their natural sleep-wake cycles and the demands of their work (Bülbül et al., 2023). Addressing these aspects through supportive work environments and health-promoting policies can significantly enhance the overall well-being of nurses working shifts. Although several studies abroad examine chronotype's influence on nurses' quality of life working both shifts and day shifts, similar research has yet to be conducted in the Czech Republic.
