AnotationPeripartal mental health is a very important part of mothers' health. It has a significant impact not only on her but also on her close ones and it might also affect her relationship with her child. According to the scientists it is very important to pay attention to mental health of women during period of pregnancy, labour and after birth. Health care professionals agree that psychoprophylaxis takes a very important place in peripartal period. Although mental health is thought to influence the relationship between mother and her child, this influence has not yet been explored enough. Currently, mainly foreign studies are trying to map the issue from different points of view throughout the peripartum period. Available results of foreign studies show that signs of mental alteration (stress, depression and anxiety) during the third trimester and in the short time after childbirth can affect the relationship of the mother and her child even in months after childbirth (Rossen et al, 2016, p. 620; Hakanen et al, 2019, p. 88, Davies et al., 2021, p. 1323). Also, the formation of the relationship between mother and her child during pregnancy has been found to have a significant impact not only on their relationship after birth, but also on the mental well-being of the child (Zdolska-Wawrzkiewicz et al., 2020, pp. 7-8; Smorti et al., 2020, pp. 1-3). Czech authors (Velemínský, M. Jr. et al., 2018, p. 85) demonstrated the influence of prenatal bonding on maternal mental health as well as on the quality of maternal attachment after childbirth.
