AnotationIn our research project we focus on under-researched multidisciplinary phenomenon of resistance in the defense of housing. The aim of the project is to explore an experience of long-term tenants and their allies with the resistance against residential displacement in the Prague district of Pisnice. We focus on the process of emerging a resisting actor, it's conditions and consequences for the life situation of the actors. Also, we focus on the collective element in the process of emerging resisting actor and the possibilities of forming wider tenants' movement. We frame our work in the critical social work that brings analysis of structural conditions of individual human problems and critically reflects inequalities in the distribution of power (Webb et al., 2019). We work with two central concepts - residential displacement (Desmond, 2015) and resistance (Hollander, Einhowen, 2004). We are particularly interested in the collective element of resistance, that has potential implications for community social work and community organizing in the defense of housing. We choose qualitative research strategy and in-depth interviews with the long-term resistant tenants of the initiative Moje Pisnice. We intentionally choose to map the terrain of the resistance out of socially excluded contexts to outline possible future allyships and overlaps in forming wider tenant movement.
