AnotationThis project should continue in developing new methodologies by utilizing fuzzy modeling and machine learning for correct and accurate identification of individual organisms and apply them in practice, for example in mobile applications for monitoring animal species (dragonflies, grasshoppers, amphibians and reptiles) in citizen science data collection. The project proceeds our research that has demonstrated the potential of methods such as species identification using image, sound, occurence and environmental data. The main aims of the project are as follows: Use of fuzzy logic and machine learning to create automatic identification systems from image, sound, and occurrence and environmental data Use of fuzzy logic and machine learning to create freeware applications for the iOS platform, identification key of amphibians, reptiles and orthopterans of Czech Republic Creation of a web application for the acquisition of biological samples as a communicative tool between Czech scientists and the professional public Practical use of fuzzy logic for language interpretation of biological data The research will be carried out by a collaboration of the Department of Biology and Ecology with the Department of Computer Science and the Institute for Research and Application of Fuzzy Modeling. The Czech Society for Ecology will be involved as an external partner of the research. The project results will be the automatic image recognition incorporated into mobile applications such as Dragonfly Hunter CZ, Herpeto Hunter CZ and Orthoptera Hunter CZ, publications in journals with IF and presentations at selected conferences (e.g. European Odonatology Congress 2020).
