AnotationThe project is aimed at clarifying the pathogenetic potential of Clostridium difficile as a pathogen that spread worldwide in the last decade and caused a sharp increase in nosocomial infections. The project plans the isolation of strains from stool with confirmed presence of toxins of Clostridium difficile from patients with diarrheal disease from selected hospital in the Czech republic. Isolates will be subjected to genotypization, including the identification of ribotypes and will be subject to analysis and characterization of the properties that pathogenicity and toxicity. The properties of this pathogen will be characterized, as well as and the connection between toxinogenicity and other factors catalyzing pathogenity, such as adherence, hydrophobicity, biofilm formation and antimicrobial resistance.
