AnotationThe research project will verify the relationship between the pupils´ social psychological distance, the dimensions of the classroom climate and the occurrence of the teacher´s preferential attitudes towards pupils. The main objective of the project is to empirically support the constructive validity of the social psychological distance in relation to the class climate and the teacher's preferential attitudes toward pupils. The secondary objective of the project is to verify the reliability of the method of measuring social psychological distance through the graphic projective material (pen and paper form, PC and virtual reality software). The research project will be divided into two substudies with the different methodology of data collection and processing. The first substudy will use quantitative research methodology and focus on the comparative analysis of the results from selected established methods of classroom climate measurement (MCI questionnaires ? My class inventory, KLIT: měření klimatu školní třídy, Klima školní třídy) and psychological distance measurement tools based on the projection of distance to graphical material (pen and paper, PC software, and virtual reality applications). The aim of the second, qualitative sub-study will represent the analysis of the respondents' perceptions of the perceived social psychological distance when filling out the stimulus material. Qualitative research will be realized through structured interviews and cognitive interviews. The research sample will consist of the elementary school teachers and pupils of the seventh to ninth class of middle schools from the Moravian-Silesian Region. Psychological distance is currently an intensely investigated construct, related to the construal level theory. The application of this construct in the area of psychodiagnostics represents the up to date direction of research with the prospective application in the field of pedagogical and counseling psychology.
