AnotationThe aim of the project is to analyze the interactions among economic and social development, state administration, society, representatives of the economic sphere and vocational education institutions. Taking the example of the situation in Austrian Silesia, the analysis aims to reveal mutual responses to long-term modernization processes, but also to the boom-and-bust cycle and changing state-level economic policy. The main benefits of the project lie in its combination of macro- and micro-approaches, its broad application of comparative analyses, and the integration of topics that have previously been researched separately. The project will be based on an analysis of attitudes to vocational education at the central, provincial, regional and local levels, combined with a study of the involvement of the state, municipalities, professional organizations and associations, and a representative sample of specific companies and political and economic elites. The vocational education infrastructure will be traced both on a provincial level and on the level of selected individual schools.
