AnotationThe objective of the proposed project Manipulation and Persuasion in the Journalistic and Commercial Discourses is to provide multilateral analysis of specific means - verbal and non-verbal - in those types of Czech discourses that either developed especially during the last decade (i.e. commercial discourse) or have undergone quite substantial changes because of extra-lingual factors (journalistic and within it political disrourses). By the end of the project, researchers intend to publish the monograph that would deepen the knowledge of the contemporary evolutionary evolutionary precesses within the above mentioned discourses, the knowledge of character and course of persuasive and manipulative communication, and provide description and classification of these means. The researchers will apply social and sociolinguistic approach, in their work. The resulting monograph will also have practical aims - it will serve not only students and experts in the social sciences but also the interested public and professionals in the field and provide them with specific knowledge and information about how to persuade others or how to protect themselves against manipulation.
