Annotation:This course is part of a series of interconnected courses of practical language for students of the 1st - 3rd year bachelor studies whose aim is the continuous development of linguistic skills and communicative competences (speaking, writing, reading and listening) with the expected final level of C1 according to CEFR. The course is aimed at first year students whose entry level is expected to be B2 (understanding the language of common conversation, the ability to express own opinion, identify basic ideas, and orientate within simple news regarding a known topic), which is then further developed thanks to the practical exercises. A part of the course is the development of academic writing skills. The basic course material for grammar revision is the "green" section of the coursebook Focus on Advanced English C.A.E (i.e. Grammar File between units 9 a 10) and other recommended literature (M. Hewings: Advanced Grammar in Use etc.). The basic course material for seminars is the coursebook Gude, K., Duckworth, M., & Rogers, L. (2012). Cambridge English Proficiency Masterclass, 3rd ed., unit 1 - 3. Students are systematically inspired and motivated to achieve their proficiency in English due to intensive independent study.
