Signing of the grant agreement with CINEA

On November 20, 2025, a grant agreement was signed with CINEA under the Just Transition Mechanism – Public Sector Loan Facility (JTM PSLF) program. The grant, amounting to CZK 31.75 million, represents one of several financing sources for the project. This is a significant step enabling further progress of the project and contributing to the region’s sustainable development and energy transition.

The University of Ostrava aims to build a block C of the new dormitory with a housing capacity of 332 beds next to the existing blocks A and B, mainly for students from other Czech regions and countries. The new dormitory will also have double rooms for people with special needs and rooms suitable for families with children. The project will also contribute to sustainability by applying a building design that integrates the use of renewable energy sources and smart solutions. The new building will have low energy and water consumption as it will use geothermal heat pumps, solar panels, dichroic facade and high-quality insulation for thermoregulation, and water harvesting system.
