Annotation:Students gain a basic knowledge of methods of corpus work and learn to apply the knowledge (i) in practice in various types of fields (literature, linguistics, cultural studies), and (ii) in effective learning of foreign languages. The seminars focus on theoretical and practical skills required to use corpora and to work with large collections of language data. Students learn to apply basic corpus methods such as frequency analysis (creating word lists), identify keywords, explore concordances, clusters/n-grams and collocations to carry out basic types of text analysis and interpretation while also expanding their knowledge in creating own corpus and learning how to use the software tool AntConc, etc. The course aimed at students with English - min. level C1.
