Annotation:The course introduces the political geography of East Asia with a focus on Japan in Northeast Asian and Southeast Asian contexts. Its theoretical and empirical contents are based on literature by some of excellent scholars. The course covers the topics from East Asian territorial and Japanese studies and enables to introduce East Asia on regional and global scales. The focus on Japan introduces this unique Asian country by chapters on the international politics, economy, society, relations and cooperation and the geopolitics. 10 consecutive sessions with 8 main topics present a cross-sectional view on Japan in Asia. The Moodle environment of the course enables student to work with geographic and other representations.
