Courses

Course title:Complex Hydrology Modelling
Faculty:Faculty of Science
Department:Department of Physical Geography and Geoecology
Course code:KFG / 7CHYM
Credits:4
Semester:Winter
Level of study:Mgr.
Format of study:Practical classes 2 [Hours/Week]
Name of the lecturer:Mgr. Stanislav Ruman, Ph.D. (G)
Language:English
ISCED F broad:Natural sciences, mathematics and statistics
Annotation:Students will be trained to operate the latest rainfall-runoff and hydraulic models. The course is purely practically oriented. In the first part students will learn how to develop, run and calibrate coupled MIKE SHE/MIKE 11 hydrological model. Afterward, they will apply this model to access principal hydrological problems e.g. land use and climate change impact on simulated results. In the second part, they will learn how to operate hydraulic model HEC-RAS, running in the two-dimensional version. Using the HEC-RAS, they will create flood hazard map which could serve as basis for flood risk assessment.
