Annotation:The course introduces students to professional language issues in the field of business English and corporate communication. The present course aims to equip students with the knowledge of specialist language and communication skills needed for further studies. Predominantly it focuses on the terminology of topics listed below which also form subjects of a basic genre analysis. On the background of these topics, students are also continuously familiarized with grammar related to the discussed communication skills in both written and spoken discourse. Emphasis is put on authentic texts and recordings. Students learn about different types of communicative situations occurring in international settings, they are acquainted with principles of politeness and formal / informal email communication. Students discuss the problems of marketing communication, brands and advertising campaigns. Students are introduced to labour market issues through professional terminology in the field of job-hunting, CVs and covering letters, or job interviews. The ability to present and defend one's methods and opinions using professional terminology is an integral part of the course content.
