Annotation:Basso Continuo is a principal study subject of Harpsichord specialization in the framework of Instrumental Play study programme. Individual tutorials focus on developing student´s competencies in basso continuo. The outcome of the course is to independently perform numbered and non-numbered basso of French music at tutorial/seminar. First semester will see elimination of technical imperfections (if the student displays any) and gradual improvement in developing student´s individual creation of basso continuo. This course is fundamental in order to establish solid understanding of specifics in harpsichord play and seeing possibilities of its use at concerts. Upon completion of the course the student should manifest abilities and competencies for smooth and good quality rendering of numbered and non-numbered basso continuo of French music. Requirements: Basso continuo basic practical knowledge Final practical exam serves to check knowledge and ability of French basso continuo performance Selection of practical exercises matches teaching needs of French basso continuo Content: Individual seminars´ detailed content is based on selected repertoire Examples of adequate repertoire: Numbered and non-numbered basso continuo of French music of 17th and 18th centuries (Couperin, Boismortier, Hoterre) Cantatas for singing and basso continuo (de la Guerre, Clerembault, Monteclair and others) Selection of chamber music with basso continuo
