The Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava announces a job vacancy at the Department of Physics (f/m)

Job Description/Responsibilities

  • Providing teaching in bachelor′s and possibly follow-up master′s degree programs, namely in the field of chemical physics, quantum physics, and nanostructures.
  • Supervising and reviewing bachelor′s and diploma theses.
  • Membership in state final examinations committees in bachelor′s and follow-up master′s degree programs.
  • Independent solution of scientific research and development tasks in the field of computational chemical physics and nanostructures.
  • Active publication activities in the aforementioned field.
  • Collaboration within a research team and with foreign researchers.
  • Actively contribute to a concept for the development of the scientific and research activities of the Nanostructure Physics Group.

Qualifications and other requirements

  • University education at the III. level, at least 5 years of experience in research, English at least at the B2 level.
  • EU research level: R2 – Recognized.
  • Ph.D. in the field of chemical physics, physical chemistry, materials science, or a related physical science field.
  • Scientific results in computational chemical physics or a related field (at the start date, at least 8 publications in impact factor journals) demonstrating independence (at least half of the publications as the dominant first author), and actual activity (at least 3 impacted publications in the last three years). In the case of a longer scientific career proportionally more results.
  • Basic experience in teaching of bachelor’s and master’s courses (at least two years of experience after Ph.D.), namely in the field of chemical and quantum physics.
  • Prerequisites for the development of scientific activities in the Nanostructure Physics Group at the Department of Physics.
  • Ability to teach in Czech, communicate in English at the level of the occupied position.
  • Independence, reliability, and ability to work in a team.

The first round of the selection procedure will take place without the personal presence of the candidates by the assessment of the submitted materials by the selection committee.

The Dean of the Faculty reserves the right to invite only selected candidates to a personal meeting and also the right not to select any candidate. The selection procedure may be cancelled or repeated at the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty.
