Scientific personality I. within the REFRESH project

The dean of the Faculty of Social Studies of the University of Ostrava announces the selection procedure No. OU to fill the following systematized job position:

  • 2 positions of non-academic worker - Scientific person I. (systematized position Researcher IV) within the REFRESH project - Research Excellence For Region Sustainability and High-tech Industries, project registration number CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000048

Qualification prerequisites and other requirements:

  • at least 10 years of experience in research; EU research level: R3 – Established/R4 – Leading (research group);
  • at least higher education III. degrees;
  • publication and research activities in the field of social work, social policy, criminology, or a related field (minimum 15 publications of type Jimp, Jsc, B, C in WoS/SCOPUS databases);
  • H-index of the researcher at least 8, or 60 verifiable citations of own works;
  • demonstrable involvement in basic/applied/contract research projects (minimum 3 projects in 10 years);
  • realization of foreign internships for a total duration of 8 months;
  • knowledge of the English language, excellent communication skills comparable to level B2. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage;
  • independent, responsible and creative approach to work;
  • moral and civil integrity;
  • the ability to work in a team in cooperation with foreign research facilities (partner universities).

Job description:

Researcher IV determines the direction of research, development and innovation activities in the relevant field. He is a leading scientific personality who significantly participates in the development of the field on an international scale and leads larger research teams. Researcher IV independently solves complex scientific research/development tasks with important importance for the development of his field, initiates research projects, leads a research team and cooperates with foreign researchers, Has active publication activity according to the requirements of the field and in accordance with the requirements of the standards of creative activity at OU, secures funding research (submission of grants, search for contractual cooperation on research). Furthermore, Researcher IV participates in the third role of the university, especially in the form of popularizing creative activity and in the administration and management associated with the activity performed. Researcher IV can participate in teaching in bachelor's or master's study programs or as a supervisor in doctoral study programs (including supervising and opposing final theses). The volume of work in individual areas depends on the amount of specific employment.

Salary conditions

  • according to the current OU wage regulations

Expected onset

  • 1st January 2024 (or according to agreement)

Expected amount of working time

  • 30 % (or according to agreement)

Work contract

  • fixed term, i.e. until 31st October 2027 (for the duration of the REFRESH project)

  • a professional CV with an overview of previous experience;
  • a motivation letter;
  • copies of evidence of higher education and academic degrees;
  • an overview of publication activities;
  • a proposal of scientific research and publication activities for the next deadline, i.e. 31st October 2027 in the given field (see above) of a maximum of 2 standard pages.

The first round of the selection procedure will take place without the presence of the candidates by means of an assessment of the submitted materials by the selection committee.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Studies reserves the right to invite only selected candidates to a personal meeting. It also reserves the right not to select any candidate. The selection procedure may be shortened, cancelled or repeated at the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty.
